Cape Charles Museum and Welcome Center
The Cape Charles Museum and Welcome Center opened in 1996 and is dedicated to preserving and presenting to the public the history of Cape Charles and surrounding areas. I have always loved the town of Cape Charles and the Victorian architecture and somehow have been drawn for years to purchase a piece of history. Well I finally did and it included a house built in 1907 and an old motor lodge, both needing a lot of work! That was in 2015 and now 5 years later the renovation is complete. The Cape Motel was opened for business July 2019. Spending so much time here the last five years I have learned much more about the Eastern Shore and Cape Charles and it is indeed rich in history. Preserving local and regional historic structures is near and dear to my heart, obviously since I spent 5 years renovating this old relic! But I find it important for future generations and that is exactly what Cape Charles Museum and Welcome Center is all about. They will be hosting their kickoff event Saturday April 25, 2020.
